Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data the Proof of Faith website collects and why. The controller is the team behind Proof of Faith, reachable at contact@.
What we collect
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The coin you voted for, the day and time | When you vote | To run the game and show the boards |
| A one-way code made from a random id kept in your browser | When you vote | So each person votes once a day. The id is random, not linked to you, and the code is mixed with a secret so it cannot be turned back into the id |
| Amount, coin, time and transaction ID of your offering | When you make an offering | To check the payment on the blockchain, run the game and show the boards |
| Display name and message (optional) | If you enter them | Shown publicly on the boards and live feed |
| Country | When you vote or make an offering | For the “where believers are” statistics. Derived from your connection by our network provider; we store only the two-letter country code |
| A one-way code made from your connection | If you report a message | So each person's report counts once. It cannot be turned back into your IP address |
| Visit statistics: the page, the site that sent you, the actions you take (such as opening a coin, voting or sharing), your country, device type, browser and operating system, and a daily one-way code | When you use the site | To count visitors and see what works. The daily code is made from your connection, your browser and a secret that changes the result every day, so we can count a visitor once a day but cannot recognise you on another day or turn it back into your IP address |
We do not store your IP address in our database, and we do not use cookies, advertising trackers or third-party analytics. The site keeps a few items in your browser's local storage (the random voter id, the day you last voted, the day of your first visit, your display name if you entered one, and an offering waiting for its payment) so the game works; they never leave your browser, except the voter id, which is sent when you vote, and whether your first visit was on an earlier day, which is sent with the visit statistics.
Legal basis
We process this data to provide the game you chose to take part in (performance of a contract), and, for the country and visit statistics, the one-vote-a-day check and report counting, on our legitimate interest in running a fair and interesting game and in knowing how the site is used. Public names and messages are shown because you chose to add them.
Who else processes data
- Cloudflare delivers the site and protects it. It sees your IP address to do so and tells us only your country.
- Our hosting provider (Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany) stores the database.
- Public blockchain services (such as mempool.space, blockstream.info and public Ethereum, Base and Solana nodes) are asked by our server about the transaction ID you give us, to check your payment. Your IP address is not sent to them.
- Google Fonts serves the site's fonts, so your browser connects to Google when the page loads.
Offerings are paid directly to our wallets on public blockchains; no payment provider is involved. A blockchain transaction, including the address you paid from, the amount and the time, is public and permanent by nature. Anyone can see it, and we cannot change or delete anything recorded on a blockchain.
How long we keep it
Votes, offerings, names and messages are kept as the public record of each era for as long as the site runs. Report codes are kept with the message they concern. Visit statistics are deleted after 180 days.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, object to its use, or complain to your data protection authority. Write to contact@. If you ask us to remove your name or message, we will replace it with “Anonymous”; the vote or offering itself stays counted, because removing it would change past results.
Changes
We will publish any change to this policy on this page with a new date.
